Dinner Table Convo

Beloved,

First things first, If no one’s told you today, you are p h e n o m e n a l.

(There’s no one like you. Sit with that for a bit.)

I struggled in deciding what my first “fitness/health” blog post should be about seeing that in 2020 plus size women are winning. Even though the truth is, WE BEEN WINNING.[Insert smirk] Then, God so sweetly reminded me that, how we “see” ourselves in private is and can be, still a struggle. Though we are finally engaging in positive internal dialogue, there are times when we f o r g e t.

Why we forget, varies.

However, the truth still stands, that each of us tend to forget.

I wanted my opening post… the foundation for this tab/section to start with affirming messages. AS it is from THIS place that everything else will flow. Please understand that the “Fitness tab” or my “@ThickEducator” IG page has the agenda of encouraging YOU wherever you are on your health journey in radically loving yourself where you are T O D A Y as you endeavor into a healthier lifestyle, brick by brick. I am coming for your mindset, your lifestyle, and your body/temple. I recognize that before we can address the actual weight, we have to address the habit and before we can address the habits we have to address the thoughts we are having. It’s in our mind that we battle the longest, hardest and the quietest. Cheers to no longer fighting alone. To cultivating a space where we can laugh about the things we have in common concerning our body and chin check the lies we tell ourselves. Ready to join me? If you haven’t already add me on IG: @ThickEducator / Youtube: Alicia Elizabeth / and subscribe to the blog for post updates.

Now that we’ve gotten that out the way lets EAT.

Sis, in 2020 lets demand better compliments.

I realize SO many women get bent out of shape because they aren’t getting a “good morning/good night, beautiful” text. Or maybe, you aren’t getting enough head turns and compliments on the shape of your booty, or random googly eyes looking down at your bosom. Or, maybe you aren’t getting enough “likes” on your pictures or enough DM’s or shooters, shooting. (This list can go on.)

Can I challenge YOUR thinking and YOUR wants for a moment?

Here’s a list of compliments that have N O T H I N G to do with your body and E V E R Y T H I N G to do with a man paying close attention to W H O you are. In addition, looking for/desiring these kinds of compliments teach YOU whats most important about you. Things like, your heart, your character, work ethic etc. In addition, demanding such compliments (and by demanding I mean, expecting these OVER physical compliments) begins to dispel the ongoing myth that the best thing to compliment is the exterior or that it is in fact the most worthy thing on/about you.

I don’t know about you but I love when a man or someone in general says things like these so much more over highlighting my body. There is SO much more to me than my pretty face, long legs, hair, smile, and physical make up. Talk to me about how you sat across the room and noticed my discipline, my willingness to be patient, my hearts desire to see others shine and the things I found funny that no one else noticed. THAT makes ya girl feel good. That lets me know, YOU SEE ME.
